Senior Counselor
Dear Applicant:
This is the time of year at Brookhill when we begin receiving requests from those who want to work at summer camp. Please read this letter before filling out the application. We have received your request, and we thank you for your interest. To save time and having to write or call back and forth, we are listing those things that are important to cover in your application as a camp counselor.
Brookhill has always held very high standards in choosing the counselors. Brookhill is a conservative Christian Camp that believes counselors are extremely influential upon the children who come to camp, so we are very selective in whom we hire. Our standards require that every counselor be a Christian and be solid in their relationship with Jesus and understand the Lordship of Christ. If you smoke, drink, use drugs are sexually active or use profanity, there will be no need for you to apply at Brookhill.
Working as a counselor is a wonderful experience and you can make wonderful friends during the summer, but being a camp counselor is also hard work. The summertime is hot and the days are long. If your physical condition is not such to be able to stand a rigorous schedule, then it would be best not to consider Brookhill this summer.
We are enclosing one of our camp brochures which list the camp activities. Our counselors need to be able to teach, not just know how to “play” these activities. The more activities you are able to teach, the better your chances will be for employment. Many times there are more applications than there are positions to fill; we would like to hire everyone who qualifies, but sometimes that is impossible.
In your application, please be sure you cover all the information listed below:
- Name and Address (both home and school addresses)
- Email address
- Phone (at home and school)
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Photograph (recent, color or black and white)
- School Background (where you are attending college and what your direction is for the future)
- Church Background (include what your relationship with the Lord is right now)
- Activities (give all of your training and experience with the activities we offer)
- Why? (tell us why you want to work at Brookhill)
- Pastors’ Reference (Have your local pastor give a character reference with phone number and address so we can contact them)
After reviewing your letter of application, if we feel there is a place for you at Brookhill, we will contact you and set up a time for a personal interview.
We always believe God to choose the summer staff. He knows just what is needed and just who needs to be here for the summer. As we pray, we ask that you pray too, for the perfect staff for summer camp. We do hope that everything comes together and you are able to work at Brookhill this year. If not, then we ask that God show you His will and that you will be greatly blessed with a wonderful summer!
In Christ,
The Brooks
